MSFT v YHOO I think a lot of commentators are missing the boat on this whole MSFT/Yahoo! merger thing. What's at stake is the trading platform for human attention. This is NASDAQ vs. NYSE. Will advertisers build an ecosystem of tools and methodologies around Google's ad-buying platform, or around MSN's, or around Yahoo's? Eventually these platforms are going to be used to buy TV spots, radio spots, and who knows what next. Human attention will be bought and sold like shares of stock. So MSFT wants to be the monopoly force in that exchange platform, before Google lays claim to it, and it's trying to consolidate eyeballs to get there.  ¶ 2/24/2008 12:29:00 AM 0 comments links to this post
