The problem with New York in the winter is the coats. Most of New York is built and run to summer scale, when skinny New Yorkers are slim clad. But it all breaks down when the winter puffy jacket season comes. They don't run more trains, or remove some restaurant tables to accommodate the extra coat space. Instead they overheat the spaces. So you're wearing all this heavy winter gear in a hot store, or you're trying to squeeze all your gear into the meager space around the restaurant table. . . They should issue a +20% winter enlargement edict for all public spaces.
Well there goes the neighborhood. I just saw a stretch hummer go by my intersection. Given that it's 12:30 on a Saturday night, this means that the bridge and tunnel crowd are beginning to colonize this part of Manhattan on weekend nights as well. New Jersey bachelorette parties will soon be invading, and after that, it's only a matter of time before the tourists follow. Not the tourists!
