So I just got out of an elevator in which I was stuck for 40 minutes with eight other people. It wasn't as bad as I'd once imagined something like that would be. No one was claustrophobically freaking out, nor were there any particularly unpleasant odors, or child birthing emergencies like on TV. For that matter, it wasn't markedly different than a crowded subway commute home really. It just started getting hotter, and there were slightly fewer mobile phone calls and more awkward silences. Luckily the maintenance guys kept checking in every few minutes over the intercom to see how things were going. The whole time I kept thinking about that Onion article about the guy trapped in the elevator for two hours: "Perhaps we resorted to cannibalism a bit early."  ¶ 2/11/2005 02:20:00 PM 0 comments links to this post
